The William &Winnifred Bowness Prize

I am absolutely thrilled to be announced in the shortlisted Bowness submissions.

From their website:

“Established in 2006 to promote excellence in photography, the annual William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize is an initiative of the MGA Foundation

The Bowness Photography Prize has quickly become Australia's most important photography prize. It is also one of the country's most open prizes for photography. In the past, finalists have included established and emerging photographers, art and commercial photographers. All film-based and digital work from amateurs and professionals is accepted. There are no thematic restrictions.”

My image here:

Over the most recent lockdown I decided to fill some time by photographing the most inane boring objects to find beauty in them.

This A4 piece of paper was one object that I challenged myself with photographing. Other objects included: staples, my dirty washing basket and face masks.

It filled time, which I felt was interesting in itself but it also allowed me time to think and create and time to consider how the very ordinary and mundane can be perceived quite aesthetically differently when presented differently.

More boring object images can be seen here in another blog post.
